untitled dream 7, acrylics on canvas, 20" x 40" x 1", 2022

This year marks 15 years since I came to the United States. It has been a journey being an obvious stranger/outsider in a foreign country, learning a lot of new things, and making it only place I can call home for now. I've been lucky enough to meet wonderful, kind people, and get help in many ways I don't know how to return.

To remark, I am putting my latest painting, untitled dream 7 out for a bid. All proceeds will be donated to United We Dream, the nation's largest immigrant-youth led network that supports immigrants and their rights regardless of the immigration status. If this could help any immigrants struggling, like I was/am, I would be really grateful and humbled.

untitled dream is a series of painting I started in 2020. Dreams are something personal that can be shared with others without much difficulty than any personal stories from reality because of randomness, and lack of relativity in them. They seem to say something about the dreamer, however. I dream vividly almost every night, and become interested in what elements I subconsciously choose to remember in my dreams. I make conscious decisions to compose an image from multiple elements in my dreams. The final paintings are a series of conscious, unconscious, and subconscious choices made from memories. Details of the painting are below, and you can click on the images to enlarge.

Bidding starts at $300, and you can place a bid by commenting below. It will be open through 11:59pm on March 20. If you want to bid anonymously, please email me at kyungeunyou@gmail.com, and I will leave a comment.

Thank you always for your interest and support my art making. It means a lot to me. Truly.
